Several characters were active on Twitter to help promote the album's release. These accounts offered a vivid, surreal, and often violent glimpse into the world of the Killjoys. With no album, comics, or music videos at the time, fans speculated and theorized about what the bizarre tweets could mean. The Twitter accounts offer a different "version" of Danger Days than the version seen in the comics, album, or music videos. These accounts tended to be more surreal, with strange characters and bizarre happenings across the Zones.
Characters
The Twitter characters included Dr. Death Defying, Tommy Chow Mein, Cherri Cola, NewsAGoGo, DJ Hot Chimp, Party Poison, Gary Levko, Bob Fillmore, and NEONFUCK. Each character had a distinct personality and their own set of motivations. While the Twitter accounts followed a very loose storyline, they were more concerned with sharing details about the universe, interacting with fans, and posting bizarre (and often incoherent) ramblings. The accounts are not consistent with the rest of Danger Days canon--for example, the character Agent Cherri Cola strongly differs from the Cherri Cola seen in the comics.
Agent Cherry Cola
One of NewsAGoGo's first tweets was the introduction of Agent Cherri Cola. On September 3, 2010, they tweeted the following[1]:
generators online...stay tuned for live Zone coverage from our Zone reporter Agent Cherry Cola and remember...
Within minutes, an unknown party snatched up the account agentcherrycola. NewsAGoGo quickly corrected themselves[2]:
oops, sorry @AgentCherriCola, always forget its an i not y
Whoever owned the agentcherrycola account decided to play along. They posted similar bizarre tweets and even invited fans to "private chats" on an outside website, where they asked puzzling questions and shared more ramblings. But the account was never acknowledged by any of the "official" accounts, indicating that the owner was not affiliated with My Chemical Romance. To this day, their identity is still unknown[3].
Portrayal
In 2014, Shaun Simon revealed on Twitter that he ran AgentCherriCola, DJHotChimp, NewsAGoGo, GaryLevko, and BobFillmore, while Gerard Way and Jon Rivera ran DrDeathDefying[4]. (PartyPoison and TommyChowMein were not mentioned.)
